Angel Di Maria came off the bench to supply another key pass at Liverpool for Juan Mata's bicycle kick, ensuring he is second only to Chelsea's Cesc Fabregas in the overall Barclays Premier League table of assists.
The Argentinian set up his ninth goal of the league campaign, edging him ahead of Everton defender Leighton Baines, Arsenal's Santi Cazorla, West Ham's rejuvenated Stewart Downing and Swansea City star Gylfi Sigurdsson.
With the likes of Raheem Sterling, Alexis Sanchez and Jesus Navas on seven assists, Di Maria's achievement cannot be under-estimated – particularly as his closest rivals at Old Trafford have recorded only four (Radamel Falcao, Ander Herrera, Mata and Wayne Rooney).
After arriving from Real Madrid as the man who set up the most goals in any of Europe's top divisions last term, it is something he is rightly proud of as he told MUTV recently: "I've made eight or nine assists and scored goals, so I'm upbeat about it [my season so far].
"I’ve only just recently started here; it’s been a short time really, just a few months. As I get to play more and get to know the league better, I will become used to the football here even more and let’s hope everything continues to turn out for the best."
