Louis van Gaal says Angel Di Maria is happy at Old Trafford and admits he has been impressed by the midfielder's attitude since Monday night's disappointment against Arsenal.
The summer signing from Real Madrid received a red card during the FA Cup defeat to the Gunners, ruling him out of Sunday's Barclays Premier League encounter with Tottenham.
Di Maria was obviously shaken by a recent break-in at his home and this prompted a direct question asking whether the club's record buy will still be in Manchester next term during the boss' press conference. Van Gaal replied: "As a manager, you can never say 'yes' or 'no' because the player shall always decide at the end.
"But I don't think he shall move. In spite of this incident, that he had with his wife at his home, he is very pleased to be here at Manchester United. I think he shall stay because of what I have seen with his reaction following the defeat and his red card, it has been very good. I like his attitude."
Meanwhile, Di Maria is unlikely to have an outing in the Under-21s as his ban only covers the one first-team fixture.
"No, and do you know why?" van Gaal responded, when asked if the South American will play for Warren Joyce's side. "Because he plays every game. He has always played and it is also dependable on what I have said before. I have to compare him with other players and, if I think he is better, he shall play."
