Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has praised Sunday’s opponents Tottenham Hotspur for their attacking style and commitment to youth this term.
The fourth-placed Reds welcome a Spurs side in sixth spot to Old Trafford for a Barclays Premier League clash that could have a significant impact on the top-four race.
Mauricio Pochettino’s young team, led by 16-goal striker Harry Kane, are very much in the hunt for a Champions League place thanks to a high-pressing style that has yielded five wins and a draw from their last seven league games.
"It is not easy to play Tottenham," van Gaal admitted to MUTV. "I like their process because you can see that a lot of experienced players are not playing and a lot of youngsters are playing. In spite of that, they are also very close and are playing attacking football.
"The way that Kane is scoring is also a reason for that success. It’s an aspect in the world of football that a big talent can stand up in one season and he is doing that."
The United boss, whose side drew 0-0 at White Hart Lane in December, added later at his press conference: "I think Spurs are a very good playing team – they have a lot of talent.
"It’s nice to see the process of another club. They are playing in a very good way and I hope we can beat them because it shall be very difficult again."
