United Reserves set for Senior Cup semi-final

Manchester United aim to set up a derby with City in the Manchester Senior Cup final when facing Bolton Wanderers in the semi-final at Leyland tonight (Monday).

The live MUTV clash is a second in succession on the road for Warren Joyce's charges, following four home matches on the trot, as his Barclays Under-21 Premier League table-toppers strive to bring more silverware to Old Trafford.

Josh Harrop was withdrawn with an injury during the draw at Sunderland last time out, with Sean Goss coming off the bench to mark his return from a long spell on the sidelines. Louis van Gaal suggested on Friday that Michael Carrick could soon be given a Reserves outing but did not specify when this would take place; Carrick was an unused substitute in the first team's win over Sunderland on Saturday. Meanwhile, Tyler Blackett is available for selection despite being sent off in last week's Under-21 league match at the Stadium of Light, as the ban will not start until 14 days after the offence.

Tonight's fixture has been rearranged after initially being postponed in January, with the Reds striving to retain the trophy won in stunning fashion last August, with a 4-1 drubbing of Manchester City in the 2013/14 final.

With no age limit for the Manchester Senior Cup, United coach Warren Joyce is braced for a test against Bolton. He told ManUtd.com: "I think, particularly in this competition, a lot of senior players tend to play against us. Teams can play whoever they want and they usually select older ones, so we're looking forward to the game."
