Falcao has high hopes for Colombia

Manchester United striker Radamel Falcao is hoping Colombia show their true quality in the Copa America this summer before launching another assault on the World Cup in 2018.

The predatory centre-forward has been included in Jose Pekerman's 24-man squad for the upcoming friendly matches against Bahrain and Kuwait and should benefit from more playing time at international level.

The 29-year-old missed the World Cup finals last year with a knee injury but his country still reached the quarter-finals before going out to host nation Brazil.

"The national squad has brought together a team of young players who all come from the same background," Falcao explained to ManUtd.com. "We’re all young and our main objective is to strengthen ourselves, ready for the World Cup in Russia.

"The Copa America in the United States will help us with that objective. We really want to do our best in order to be among the elite."

Falcao has scored 18 goals in 40 starts for Colombia and is likely to lead the line against Bahrain on Thursday.
