Manchester United prospect Andreas Pereira admits he has received a confidence boost after a stellar performance in the Under-21s' 2-1 victory over Chelsea on Monday night.
The 19-year-old scored the equaliser with a deflected free-kick and forced a fine save out of Blues keeper Mitchell Beeney from another set-piece before providing a beautiful cross for Tom Thorpe's late headed winner.
Pereira has forged a reputation as something of a dead-ball expert during his youth career and was pleased to find the net, notching his third goal of the campaign for Warren Joyce's side.
"It was a very good game and I'm very happy we could win it in the last minutes," he told MUTV. "When we scored, the game changed and everyone started to believe again. When I equalised, I got a bit of confidence and we played better and better.
"I hadn't scored a free-kick for a long while so I'm very happy to get one - I just have to keep practising. I'm very happy with the second goal as well as it was a great header [by Thorpe]."
The midfielder played in a more attacking role, primarily on the right of a front three and was able to showcase his creative talents from a wider position.
